I know these emails can be pesky and that my team has been sending more than usual this week. I owe you an explanation as to why that is:

Here’s the truth: Eric Hovde has eliminated the polling gap in this race since launching his campaign and cutting himself an $8 million check. Wisconsin’s Senate race is now a dead 50-50 tie.

And this is only just the beginning. Hovde pledged to self-fund at least $20 million of his own personal fortune to flip this seat red, and he’s currently on pace to spend even more than that.

I’ve said it before, asking for donations is my least favorite part of the job. And I mean it.

But that doesn’t negate the fact that donations to emails just like this are one of our most valuable sources of grassroots fundraising. 96% of our donations last quarter were under $200, so believe me when I tell you your $5, $10, and $25 donations are keeping us afloat in this neck-and-neck Senate race.

We raised our fundraising goals to respond to Hovde’s flood of spending, but I can’t self-fund like he can to make up the gap. I’m counting on you to help us out.

I’m personally asking: Will you chip in to help me defend Wisconsin’s Senate seat from my megamillionaire opponent? We can’t protect our Democratic Senate majority unless we keep this battleground seat blue.
