** 1. UK study has local implications for children and transgender treatments ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

By Beth Ann Rosica

Earlier this month, an independent review of gender identity services for children and young people — known as the Cass Review ([link removed]) after its lead author, Hilary Cass — was published in Britain. The review is groundbreaking and may revolutionize the treatment for children and adolescents. It has already changed policies and practices in multiple European countries ([link removed]) .

The 350-page report demonstrates a scholarly research methodology and also a compassionate approach for those seeking treatment and support. The review is accessible to not only clinicians and physicians, but also to lay people. The author went to great lengths to weave in the “lived experiences” of young people who are often desperately seeking medical treatment.

Why It Matters. “Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is the largest local provider of pediatric services to children. TheirGender and Sexuality Development Clinic ([link removed]) ‘offers psychosocial and medical support for gender variant, gender expansive, and transgender children and youth up to age 21 and their families.’

"I requested comments four separate times from CHOP and the clinic co-founders regarding their thoughts about the review, the clinic’s annual budget, the number of gender reassignment surgeries performed, and the percentage of patients prescribed puberty blockers or hormones. None of the requests were returned with the exception of an out-of-office automatic response from Dr. Dowshen.”

Quotable. “The bottom line is that we simply do not have enough information nor research to support the current practice of prescribing puberty blockers or hormones to children. Absent a robust clinical trial, local pediatric facilities should discontinue this practice and Medicaid should stop paying for it.

Standing up for children and following science even when it is unpopular should not be political. Both sides of the debate have weaponized this vulnerable population to advance their own agendas. It is now time to simply do what is right and follow the recommendations in the Cass Review to ensure the best possible outcomes for these young people.”

** 2. 'Greedflation' and other tall tales ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

By Guy Ciarrocchi

Dear voters, Bob Casey, Joe Biden and the Democrats are imploring you not to blame them for inflation: blame those money-grubbing businesses. This is one of the modern Democrat Party’s only remaining ties to the old-school Democrat Party: blame “big business.”

Why It Matters. “This Democrat-created problem began with locking us down for too long and reopening too slowly. Production fell. Supply chains were broken. Supply and Demand 101: reduce supply and prices go up. Not due to greed, due to reality — manufacturers and sellers have fixed costs and need to recoup money. If they can’t sell 100 pairs of jeans at $40 because they only have 30 pairs, they start selling them at $75 or $100 a pair just trying to meet payroll and expenses.

"The problem was compounded by even more ‘emergency’ spending in 2021 because Biden had to show us that he really cared. Adding in Biden’s ‘covid relief,’ Washington spent more additional money than its annual budget. Then, having helped cause inflation, and having heard voters complain about high gasoline prices and inflation, they gave us the ‘Inflation Reduction Act.’

Yet, even Democrat politicians admitted — before Biden’s signature was dry on the Act — that it was really the ‘green new deal.’ Even more spending. Plus now the federal government put laws in place to slow the production and exploration of American natural gas and oil — putting Democrat rhetoric into reality. More spending, plus policies to slow energy production: brilliant!”

Quotable. “Casey has checked all the boxes in the new Democrat playbook: (1) impose left-wing policies — especially slowing or stopping American energy; (2) ignore the problem — the harm the policies will obviously cause; (3) blame anyone else, never accept responsibly and never accept cause and effect; and (4) when forced to act in response to the public’s anger, pass out cash and grow the size and power of the federal government.”

** 5. What we're reading
------------------------------------------------------------

As Gaza protests turn ugly across college campuses in America, our friends at The Free Press dispatched reporter Olivia Reingold to survey the scene. Her report, “Camping Out at Columbia’s Communist Coachella ([link removed]) ,” tells of the bizarre collection of protestors and their, oh, let’s say “eccentric” theories of what needs to change in the world and how all of it, somehow, is related to Israel.
