Republicans have worked overtime to dismantle reproductive health care state by state in post-Roe v. Wade America. As a result, nearly one in three women of reproductive age live in a state where abortion is banned or mostly banned.
The landscape is constantly changing as Republicans enact new restrictions -- and Democratic pro-choice women fight back against these anti-choice attacks. That's why we wanted to update you on the status of abortion access in Pennsylvania:
- Abortion banned or mostly banned: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia
- Abortion restricted: Nebraska, North Carolina, Arizona*, Florida*
- Abortion bans currently blocked: Iowa, Utah, Wyoming
And this map will shift again soon. State Supreme Courts in Arizona and Florida recently ruled that Arizona's total abortion ban from 1864 and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' six-week ban, respectively, can take effect in the coming weeks.
We know that the overwhelming majority of Americans are pro-choice, John, because when choice is on the ballot, choice wins. This cycle we'll need all hands on deck to stop Republicans' draconian plans to take this country, and our rights, back to the dark ages.
