John,

I know the massive disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has been upsetting for all of us. I want you to know I am praying for you. Our team is praying for you. You have made, and continue to make, a powerful impact in the fight against sex trafficking. You have my deepest gratitude.

Our lives might feel uncertain or upside-down right now, and we all have people in our lives that are struggling, and we may be struggling ourselves! Even during these uncertain times, we can work together - there are small, positive things we can all do, even from our couches!

For those of you who feel you're able to do a little something more, we can work together to protect vulnerable children and keep each other safe during these difficult times…

Children are out of school for social distancing and are likely spending more time on the Internet or gaming.

Porn companies are responding in their own evil way: Now offering FREE VIEWING of their content in select countries as a marketing strategy. And according to Google Analytics, porn searches skyrocket by 4,700% when kids are out of school.

Shared Hope is working to counteract traffickers and Internet-based dangers by getting our Internet safety materials in as many hands as possible, to help you and other caregivers keep children safe from the lure of traffickers during social distancing.

If you can, I hope you’ll join us today by giving a gift and taking simple actions to help — here’s why …

A recent New York Times investigative report is devastating. “Data obtained through a public records request suggests Facebook’s plans to encrypt Messenger in the coming years will lead to vast numbers of images of child abuse going undetected.”

Special Agent Flint Waters, an investigator for the State of Wyoming, testified before Congress about a molester who did despicable things to children.

A rare occurrence? No. He told Congress this was the kind of thing “we see every day.”

“He went on to present a map of the United States covered with red dots, each representing a computer used to share images of child sex abuse,” the Times report continues. “Fewer than 2% of the crimes would be investigated, he predicted. ‘We are drowning in the tidal wave of tragedy,’ he said.”

Says Sgt. Jeff Swanson, a task force commander in Kansas: “The violence inflicted on these kids is unimaginable.”

We must take action to protect our own children. Join Shared Hope today in fighting online child sex abuse.

We will go to battle in the courts, in Congress, in the media. We will not stop.

Our policy team is actively working with U.S. Senators’ offices that are sponsoring The Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies (EARN IT) Act, which will improve protections for children online by establishing best practices for the technology sector to combat online child exploitation.

We created an advocacy campaign so that you can let your legislators know how critically important this bill is to you and to the children in your community. Taking action only takes a couple minutes and can easily be done from your couch!

Your actions and generosity are more important than ever — to make sure our vital work is not diminished.

Please help us fight … and win — for the sake of millions of children at risk.
