Over the weekend, two of our nation’s top universities erupted into what CNN is calling a “full-blown crisis”.

Dear Supporters,

In recent days, several of our nation’s top universities erupted into what CNN is calling "a full-blown crisis". ([link removed]) Right before the start of the Jewish festival of Passover, Columbia, Yale, and NYU were taken over by pro-Palestinian protestors, creating a hostile and dangerous environment for Jewish students.

Jewish students were physically assaulted. More than 100 protestors were arrested. Classes were moved online for students who did not feel safe to attend them in person. One rabbi has urged Columbia University students to leave campus for their safety. These protests have now spread to other campuses, where students and non-student organizers answer to the false identitarian drumbeat of oppressed vs. oppressor.

We must face an ugly truth: many campuses across the country are plagued by an epidemic of illiberalism that shuns the foundational values of a free and civil society.

Yes, these outbreaks are horrifying but, now, Americans are waking up to the reality that our campuses have become hotbeds of ideology, antisemitism, and anti-Americanism instead of centers of free exchange and learning.

Recently, we partnered with The Free Press to explore the ideological roots of violent campus antisemitism, and the dangers it poses to students of all backgrounds. Check it out here. ([link removed])

So, what is to be done about the appalling situation on America’s campuses?

In order to change course in American higher education, the Jack Miller Center is doing five things that need to happen on a larger scale:
1. Identify and recruit world-class scholars who are prepared to take critical positions in political science, history, law, and related fields;
2. Provide professional training for leaders and faculty who are going to work in innovative new Schools of Civic Thought ([link removed]) that are starting up at major public universities;
3. Multiply the number of campus events with speakers focused on the U.S. Constitution and the values of a free society;
4. Put career advancement opportunities for the next generation of constitutional scholar-leaders “on steroids”;
5. Finally, utilize and expand our large cadre of Jack Miller Center scholars to train K-12 social studies teachers about how to teach our founding documents.

Through our American Political Tradition Project to reform higher education, the Jack Miller Center is underway with all five elements of this ambitious campaign. We must raise $17 million by 2026 in order to fully implement this project, and we need your help to accomplish that. Visit our website www.jackmillercenter.org to learn more about how you can get involved in this and our other efforts to address the nation’s civics crisis.

The time to act is now. We invite you to join this higher education reform movement to defend the foundational values of a free and civil society. Please donate here today ([link removed]) .
