GOP Women Call for Accountability at Antisemitic Universities

This week, as pro-terror antisemites took over college campuses across the country, Republican women stepped up to hold university leaders accountable for appeasing and emboldening these radical groups.

Following the Education and the Workforce Committee’s hearing on antisemitism at Columbia University, antisemitic pro-Hamas mobs took over the campus. University President Minouche Shafik surrendered campus to the mob, forcing students into fully online classes for the rest of the semester.

House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik has led the fight against antisemitic attacks on college campuses and is holding those responsible accountable for their actions against Israel and the Jewish people. Chairwoman Stefanik is focused on removing this moral and cultural rot in our society.

On Sunday, Chairwoman Stefanik intensified her criticism of Columbia University’s leadership for their abject failure to enforce their own campus rules and protect Jewish students on campus. Chairwoman Stefanik stated –

“While Columbia’s failed leadership spent hundreds of hours preparing for this week’s congressional hearing, it clearly was an attempt to cover up for their abject failure to enforce their own campus rules and protect Jewish students on campus. Over the past few months and especially the last 24 hours, Columbia’s leadership has clearly lost control of its campus putting Jewish students’ safety at risk. It is crystal clear that Columbia University, previously a beacon of academic excellence founded by Alexander Hamilton, needs new leadership. President Shafik must immediately resign. And the Columbia Board must appoint a president who will protect Jewish students and enforce school policies.”

On Monday, Chairwoman Stefanik led a letter with New York’s Republican Delegation demanding the immediate resignation of Columbia President Minouche Shafik. Chairwoman Stefanik stated –

“Today I formally demanded Columbia University President Shafik resign following her failure to put an end to the mob of students and agitators spreading antisemitism and calling for acts of terrorism against Jewish students at Columbia.”

On Tuesday, Chairwoman Stefanik reiterated her demands to defund Columbia stating –

“Columbia University’s leadership has allowed an antisemitic mob to illegally take control of the school and the President announced the cancellation of all in-person classes through the end of semester. This is a disgrace and shows a fundamental lack of leadership from the President and the Board of Trustees.

These dens of antisemitic hate need to be defunded.”

GOP women have stuck by our greatest ally Israel since the horrific October 7th attacks and continue to stand up against the paid activists, students, professors, and university leaders continuing to appease the pro-terror antisemitic mobs. See what they had to say below –

Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) stated –

“Pro-terrorist groups have no place in the US, let alone on college campuses.

It’s time for elite universities to regain control of their campuses and hold these groups accountable.

Jewish students should not face harassment, intimidation, or assault at these universities!”

Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) stated –

“It is a sad day for our nation when colleges are forced to move to hybrid learning as a result of anti-Semitic Hamas terrorist sympathizers. Colleges that refuse to take action against those who have forced Jewish students into hiding out of fear of their safety should lose their tax exempt status and access to taxpayer dollars.”

Alison Esposito (Candidate for NY-18) stated –

“Our universities are being hijacked and the students are the ones paying the price. These riots must cease immediately. The audacity of an institution of higher education charging $70,000 a year and then making classes remote because they failed to maintain public safety on their campuses. The President must immediately restore order to campus and expel any student who has engaged in violence. Enough is enough.”

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) stated –

"It was shocking to believe that this is an Ivy League institution, the way that they were heckling and acting so juvenile as if they were in junior high school, cursing at the speaker of the House."

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) stated –

“This is an anti-Israel protest. It is not necessarily a pro-Palestinian protest and I agree with all the concerns about everyone – where is the money coming from? … There is a lot of dark money coming into these, and this is not grassroots. … The President needs to go, but maybe what we should also do from the Ways and Means side is let's get rid of their tax exemption if they’re not going to stand up for students equally. …”

GOP Women Criticize Biden’s Woke Title IX Rewrite

This week, Joe Biden announced plans to completely undermine Title IX, the landmark law protecting women from unfair discrimination in education, by allowing biological men to claim protections reserved for women. The radical move would allow men to use women’s bathrooms and locker rooms and compete in women’s and girls’ athletics.

Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) stated –

“In case we needed another reason to abolish the Department of Education, their war on women and obliterating Title IX in favor of transgender insanity seals the deal.”

See Beth’s post here.

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-2) stated –

“Never let Democrats tell you they are the party of women.”
