John,
I’m a parent. A busy working mom specifically. When the sign-ups for the end-of-school parties come around. I make sure I’m the first to sign up. For paper plates. Can I get an amen from the parents who know!?! I don’t have much time to bake these days, but I do have time to chip in for paper plates.
Giving $10 to my battleground re-election is like signing up for the paper plates of our democracy potluck. We all benefit from a well-functioning, pro-freedoms, pro-democracy Congress, but we don’t all have to run for office and serve; we don’t even all have to make phone calls or knock on doors. Believe me, most days, I don’t blame you for not wanting to do more! It’s a jungle out here. But everyone has to chip in.
I’ve got the constitution to serve, and I’m happy to do the hard stuff. But can I count on you to donate $10 today for our democracy potluck to help me win?
