“They'll say we're disturbing the peace, but there is no peace. What really bothers them is that we are disturbing the war."

Howard Zinn

Folks – Tell me when in American history, after everything shook out and the dust settled, that the students were wrong.

The answer is “Never.”

I was a student at the University of Washington when I joined my first anti-war protests targeting the lies that led us into the FIRST Iraq war.

I was a public high school math teacher (and a new parent) when we were dragged into a SECOND Iraq war – and I protested again.

A compilation of 2 photos of Jason protesting war in the early 2000s. On the left he is seen at an Iraq war protest with a sign decrying Donald Rumsfeld and Condaleeza Rice. His daughter rides in a backpack on his back. On the right, he is kneeling at an anti-war protest with his son holding up a sign that reads: “No War. No Empire. No Occupation.”

I have protested war for 34 years, and here’s what I know: the students are always on the right side of justice.

The students were right about Vietnam.

The students were right about the Gulf War.

The students were right about the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars.

The students – and increasingly, their faculty – are right about Gaza now.

A compilation of 6 photos of recent protests from colleges and universities with students and faculty opposing the genocide in Gaza and the illegal Israeli occupation.

The violent police crackdown on these protests is as predictable as it is despicable. It doesn’t matter if these schools are in “blue states” or “liberal cities” or “red states” with right-wing governors. The police response has been the same.

Blame the protestors. Get violent. And shut them up.

But they’ve miscalculated once again. The more brutal the police response has been, the more students have shown up – and the harder their resolve has become.

I’m a lifelong anti-war and climate activist running against a former lobbyist and career politician funded by the American war machine. This race is the MOST competitive seat in the country to get a Green elected to Congress, and I need your help to do it.

If you agree we desperately need anti-war voices in Congress, please donate to my campaign today to help me win this seat.

I firmly stand with the students protesting across the nation, and I stand in solidarity with Gaza – where horrifying war crimes continue every single day.

I will keep protesting war whether in or out of Congress for as long as it takes.

In solidarity,

Jason Call
