John,
We’re thrilled to share that earlier this week, twelve of our endorsed candidates in Pennsylvania won their primaries, advancing to the general election in November (with one race too close to call!)
Some candidate highlights:
-
Rep. Arvind Venkat (PA HD-30) brings his experience as an emergency physician to his work as a legislator. With deep medical experience, he knows that pregnancy decisions are too complicated to be legislated, and he is committed to keeping politicians out of our doctors’ offices.
-
Hadley Haas (PA HD-44) will take on an anti-choice, MAGA incumbent in November, and has made clear she’ll fight hard for our fundamental rights. In her words: “As a mother, I stand for reproductive freedom. To me, that means people have the right to choose if they want to have children, when they have children, and to raise their children in safe and healthy communities.”
-
Rep. La'Tasha D. Mayes (PA HD-24) brings with her over two decades of leadership experience as a reproductive justice activist, and has already made history as the first out lesbian to serve in Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives.
Abortion in Pennsylvania is legal up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, but medically unnecessary restrictions remain, and patients who need abortions later in pregnancy are left without care.
A pro-choice majority in Pennsylvania’s legislature is critical to expanding access and ensuring that these archaic, misogynistic barriers are dismantled.
That’s why we’re so proud to support candidates who are unapologetically pro-choice. We’re fired up from Tuesday’s wins, and we’re ready to keep building on this momentum.
As always, wins like these are made possible by supporters like you. Thank you for engaging with this work and for being a pro-choice voter. We are grateful!
Best,
The Vote Pro-Choice Team
