Daily Docket — Friday, April 26

Democracy is on the docket AND ballot this election year. Help get out the vote by shopping ([link removed]) our union-made t-shirts!

Here’s what’s happening on Monday.
* A New York appellate court will hear oral argument in a lawsuit ([link removed]) — brought by the RNC, NRCC, Rep. Elise Stefanik and more — challenging the state’s new Early Mail Voter Act, which allows any voter to vote by mail during the early voting period.
+ A lower court dismissed ([link removed]) the case in February after finding that the GOP plaintiffs “failed to meet their heavy burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the Early Mail Voter Act is unconstitutional under the NY Constitution.”

* At 9:30 a.m. EDT, the U.S. Supreme Court will release an order list announcing some of the cases it will hear. We’re watching to see if the Court takes up a case ([link removed]) challenging Arkansas’ congressional map for dividing up Black voters in Pulaski County, home to Little Rock, across three districts.

Oral argument in former President Donald Trump’s immunity case concluded on Thursday. Earlier this week, former federal prosecutor Harry Litman joined Marc on a bonus episode of Defending Democracy to discuss the case and the potential outcome.
