Fellow American,

There is a powerful movement in our culture to teach young Americans that our nation’s history is oppressive and shameful.

Sometimes, this effort goes under the name “critical race theory.” Other times, activists advance these ideas through works like TheNew York Times’“1619 Project.”

This radical movement pushes a narrative that slavery, not freedom, is the defining characteristic of American history. They teach our children that we should replace equal individual rights with the idea of unequal rights based on group identity.

Hillsdale College is committed to countering this destructive ideology. That’s why we have produced a new, free online course titled

“Civil Rights in American History.” And right now, it is available in a special, limited DVD box set.

When you take this course, you’ll learn about:

- How our Founding Founders understood equality, natural rights, and civil rights.
- The quest for justice in America through the Civil War, during Reconstruction, and in the 20th century.
- The danger posed to freedom and civil rights today by identity politics.
