Dear John,
THIS IS IT. Today is Election Day in Wisconsin. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
TO BE CLEAR—Today polling places in the state of Wisconsin will be open for business.
Yesterday, in an effort to stop in-person voting today, April 7, Governor Evers unsuccessfully tried to postpone the election at the very last minute with an executive order. His intention was to push the election out to June 9. The Wisconsin GOP legislative leaders immediately filed a challenge to this executive order with the Wisconsin Supreme Court (WSC). Late yesterday afternoon, the WSC ruled 4-2 against Governor Evers' executive order and ordered the election back on. Note: Justice Daniel Kelly recused himself from this decision.
Important! This is why we say over and over again that elections have consequences. Who sits on our state supreme court is vital to the outcome of situations such as this.
We know many voters across The Badger State have already cast their ballots by absentee or early in-person voting in order to ensure their voice is heard at a time when our world appears to be changing on a day-to-day basis. If you have already voted absentee, THANK YOU for responsibly exercising your fundamental right to be heard through the ballot box. IF YOU HAVE NOT MAILED IN YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT, do so today. You MUST have your ballot either delivered to the clerk's office or postmarked no later than TODAY, April 7. No absentee ballots will be counted that are postmarked after today.
If you have NOT yet voted, we want to give you one critical reason to make the trip to your polling place, assuming, of course, that you can do so safely and without in any way compromising your health.
Every ballot will include a race for a 10-year seat on Wisconsin’s supreme court. That alone makes this a critically important election. Justice Daniel Kelly, endorsed by pro-family, pro-life Wisconsin Family Action PAC, Wisconsin Right to Life, Pro-Life Wisconsin, President Trump and current Supreme Court Justice Brian Hagedorn, is facing off against Jill Karofsky, endorsed by Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and Human Rights Campaign, which aggressively pushes the LGBT agenda. For more information on these candidates, visit our new election site Vote Right Wisconsin. (Wisconsin Family Action PAC has also endorsed Judge Paul Bugenhagen for District II Court of Appeals, Matt Reed for Appleton Common Council and Chris Martinson for New London School Board.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN YOU HEAD TO THE POLLS TODAY:
1. Because so many Wisconsin voters have opted to vote absentee in this election, polling places have been streamlined to reduce the number of poll workers and clerk and keep risk of COVID-19 to a minimum. We suggest calling your local municipal clerk to confirm your voting location. Click HERE to obtain contact information for your local polling place.
2. Some polling places are using a no-touch, drive-through method of voting.
3. Municipal clerks are taking every precaution to allow you to vote safely. The Wisconsin Elections Commission has given election officials and poll workers instructions on how to conduct a safe election HERE.
4. Practice social distancing when at the polls today. Wash your hands thoroughly when you return home.
In addition to making sure you vote, please contact as many people as you can and remind them of the importance of honoring God by voting and doing so knowledgeably and responsibly.
Most importantly, please pray about this election--for God's protection for poll workers and voters and for righteousness to prevail. Thank you for partnering with us in this important work.
For the future of Wisconsin,
Julaine Appling
President
