Howdy Texan –

I wanted to share an update on what's happening in Texas' 31st district and the U.S. House.

ON THE DOCKET:

  • Vandalism at my Georgetown Office
  • Meeting with Dell
  • What do you think?
  • Standing with our Allies

THE BRIEF:

  • Students at a growing number of U.S. colleges and universities are forming anti-Israel protest encampments on campus to demand that their schools divest from Israel.
  • With cases involving Donald Trump, abortion, labor unions, and tattoos, the Supreme Court had a busy week packed with arguments that will affect everything from the 2024 election to health care, the workplace, and policing.
  • Push is coming to shove on the tension between Texas’ massive economic growth and its main power grid, whose operator has announced a new planning strategy to cope with the rising demand.

ANTI-ISRAEL VANDALISM

This week, when my staff arrived to open my Georgetown office, they encountered disturbing vandalism perpetrated by an unhinged anti-Israel activist. This act of vandalism was designed to intimidate, and I want to make it very clear that I will not be intimidated. My support for Israel is unwavering. I appreciate the Georgetown Police Department, the U.S. Capitol Police, and the FBI's quick response. I'm confident our law enforcement officers will find the party responsible and they will face justice.

SITTING DOWN WITH DELL

As we approach Dell's 40th anniversary, I sat down with their leadership team to provide them with an update on Congress. We discussed the threat of China, artificial intelligence, and my work on the House Appropriations Committee. I heard from them about the vision for the future of Dell and how their workforce is tackling some of the biggest challenges in technology.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Anti-Israel students have taken over several campuses, making Jewish students feel unsafe and disrupting classes.

Are you concerned about the rising anti-Semitism at college campuses?
Yes
No

FOREIGN AID

Over the weekend, I voted to stand with our allies against our mutual enemies. Should Iran, China, or Russia be successful in their military pursuits, the United States will be at risk. I voted for the legislation because I would much rather avoid America's direct involvement and the potential of American service members being put in harm's way by standing by our allies to defeat our mutual enemies now.

As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district.

Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and privilege.

Sincerely,

John R. Carter
