As chaos engulfs colleges across the country, headlines refer to these hideous displays as “anti-Israel protests.” But let’s call this madness out for what it really is: antisemitic filth that reeks of hostility and hatred.
The atrocities carried out at the hands of barbaric Hamas terrorists are unfathomable, yet college kids at the most elite universities in America are repeating their dangerous rhetoric and waving their flag high.
I couldn’t believe my eyes watching the video of Yale students chanting “Viva viva Palestina” as they took down the American flag—cheering when it hit the ground. Other videos show protesters singing, “We support Hamas’ fight” and “Hamas, we love you. We support your rockets, too.”
It’s hard to find the words to describe how I’m feeling, but devastated, disgusted, and disappointed are all good places to start.
This is not who we are in America.
As Speaker Johnson said on the steps of Columbia University, the epicenter of this delusional grime, if Hamas is endorsing you and calling you the “leaders of the future,” that is not a good look—and it’s probably time to put an end to the lunacy.
First, the president of Columbia (and any other college letting antisemitism run rampant) must step down. These leadership positions come with the fundamental yet critical responsibility to foster a safe environment conducive to learning. If you can’t perform that simple function, you’ve failed miserably. It's time to resign.
Further, we can’t let taxpayer dollars fund colleges with administrators who stand by and watch as antisemitism runs rampant across their campuses. These schools have a legal responsibility to protect students from discrimination, not to mention physical and mental harm. The crime fits the punishment for colleges like Columbia that allow all hell to break loose.
This isn’t about partisanship; it’s about the very basic argument of good versus evil, and the Jewish community needs our unwavering support now more than ever. We can’t turn a blind eye to the rising tide of antisemitism in hopes that it’ll all blow over; it requires a head-on confrontation. Rid these places of antisemitic staff and students and cut the funding immediately.
It’s high time we wake up as a nation and work together to confront this horror or we run the risk of standing on a very dark side of history.
