White House Contemplating Amnesty for Estimated 1.1 Million
According to several news reports, the White House is contemplating granting an amnesty to an estimated 1.1 million individuals already living in the United States through "parole in place." Reports suggest that this amnesty would be focused on illegal alien spouses of U.S. citizens who currently aren't eligible to get a green card.
The amnesty would be another unlawful expansion of parole authority and would come with a path to a green card and, eventually, citizenship.
The White House hasn't commented publicly, and no plan has been released, but keep an eye on your Action Board as this story progresses.
Congress is Coming Back, and Immigration is on the Backburner
The House and Senate are back in town next week, and after months of intense action on immigration, the week is looking fairly quiet. We'll be monitoring Congress and keeping you updated on anything that may come up.
Don't forget to ask your Member of Congress to support one of Our Great Solutions. When immigration votes aren't happening, your Representatives can cosponsor bills to indicate their support, which can help encourage future votes on legislation.

Amidst an industry-wide wage suppression conspiracy, they are also routinely being busted for child labor/endangerment and various other employee abuse..
- Alabama Political Reporter: "Child labor violations discovered at several locations for food franchise." 149 children across seven locations were found working (including operating dangerous deep fryers) at Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburger in Alabama. Anyone can make mistakes, but hiring 149 children seems more like a hiring strategy.

Grassroots power makes the difference
Since our founding in 1996, NumbersUSA has been unique in its focus on putting citizen activists in touch with their elected officials in order to communicate their desire for a better immigration policy. Some readers of this newsletter who are familiar with the book Good to Great might call it our Hedgehog Concept. We empower voters to achieve a sensible immigration policy. We provide the information and tools to put you in touch: you make the contact. It's a system that has been proven to work. As early as 2007 our grassroots army shut down the Capitol Hill switchboard and defeated an amnesty bill. Today, amidst the worst border crisis in U.S. history, the need for grassroots voices to be heard has never been greater. You, the citizen activists fighting for better immigration, have the power to make a difference. Thank you for using our tools, sending the messages, and making the calls. You matter to us and to the country.

Colorado Senate Driving Licenses Into Hands of Illegal Aliens
Senate Bill 24-182 has been winding its way through the Colorado Senate during the month of April, and this week passed by a vote of 22-12 (with one not voting). Illegal aliens in Colorado have been allowed to get licenses since 2013, but this bill will further water down the existing standards and make them available to a far larger number of those illegally present.
As reported by Colorado Newsline: "The bill would repeal the residency length, Social Security number and tax return requirement, and allow more acceptable identification documents, including a photocopy of a passport from the immigrant's country of origin. They could also use a voter identification card or driver's license from that country... Those documents would need to be current or less than 10 years expired."
As reported by the Denver Post: "Only one person, Erin Meschke of Boulder, spoke against the legislation at the Senate committee hearing… SB 24-182 passed its first two committees with support from Democratic lawmakers and one Republican. [It will now head] to the House for consideration."
While both Colorado Republicans and the NumbersUSA States Initiative were bringing attention to measure in opposition to it, we are going to need far more Americans - in every state - willing to send emails, make phone calls, and post on social media to stop bad bills and pass good bills.
We are building and will be rolling out additional tools to make your efforts efficient and impactful in the coming months. In the meantime, please follow Andrew and our States Initiative on X/Twitter.
SUSTAINABILITY (JEREMY BECK)
Conservation Challenge: Create a robust immigration policy that's compatible with conservation.
Over 44 million acres of American open space, natural habitat, and farmland — an area larger than Florida — was "paved over" during the most recent 35-year period for which data is available. Plans to conserve 30 percent of America's nature by 2030 cannot be realized under current conditions. What's at stake is clear – unless America lowers its high immigration rates, our nation will continue to suffer a wide range of negative and irreversible environmental consequences, Earth Day festivals notwithstanding.

Who or what is slowing down crossings in Eagle Pass Texas?
As intimidating as Lt. Olivares from the Texas Department of Safety and I are…Enforcement alone is not the only reason the numbers have gone down. I participated in a border tour hosted by the Center of Immigration studies and spent a week in Texas. Through our interviews with various experts from the Border Patrol, Texas Department of Safety, and various journalists, we have found that Mexico has played a key role in slowing the flow.
Operation Lone Star deserves a lot of credit, after Texas fortified the border with State Troopers, National Guard, and even Florida Emergency Management Services it became significantly harder to cross the border. However, Mexico has bused illegal aliens away from the border and stopped people from accessing trains. It will be interesting to see how long this slowdown continues.

GUESS . . . THAT . . . WALL!
During my border tour with the Center of Immigration Studies, I was able to see 3 different fences from 3 different eras. We saw walls built by Former President George W. Bush, Former President Trump, Governor Abbott, and President Biden. The walls illustrated clear differences in policy. In the video below, I give some key differences in the 3 distinct eras of the border wall.
