Touring the Driscoll Children’s Hospital in the Rio Grande Valley
What a historic day in the Valley this past weekend. I took a tour of a new stand-alone, designated children’s hospital, the 33rd of its kind to open in the United States and the first to open in the Valley. I joined Sens. Hinojosa and Schwertner and the staff of Driscoll Children’s Hospital RGV to celebrate the future opening of their newest location in Edinburg, Texas. Driscoll Children’s Hospital RGV is a high-tech, state-of-the-art children’s hospital that I know will become the gem of Texas and the Valley.
I had the pleasure of meeting one of their patients, Tialy, who used to have to travel to Corpus Christi for treatment. Now, she and her family have a hospital in their area, which is a huge relief so she can have a happier and healthier childhood. She gave me a very special drawing that I will put in my office to remember the great work they are doing at Driscoll. We were able to pick out a teddy bear of her choosing in the gift shop. It was a very special day. Thank you to all healthcare workers who do so much to ensure our state remains healthy and well cared for.

Induction of Walt Cunningham into the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame
I accepted an award during Apollo 7 astronaut Walt Cunningham's Hall of Fame induction into the Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington Airport. It was a great honor to be asked by his family. Sadly, Walt passed away last year. Walt and his wife, Dot, volunteered with me for over 25 years at Be An Angel. He was a true American hero.

Riders in the Sky in Tomball
On a rare night off, I took Jan to see Riders in the Sky in Tomball last night. They have won two Grammys for Toy Story and have played over 7,000 show dates, plus their TV shows and the Grand Ole Opry since forming in 1977. Lead singer Ranger Doug and I have been friends since I first saw them in 1981 in Houston. I’ve seen 15 shows or more. I love all types of music including Cowboy Western. They will be in the Woodlands in September. If you haven’t heard them you can sample their music on iTunes.

Be Sure to Vote for Brent Hagenbuch!
Last week, I attended the Texas Home School Convention with Brent Hagenbuch.
President Trump, Gov. Abbott, Commissioner Sid Miller, Senators Bob Hall, Phil King, Tan Parker, and many others support Brent for our open Senate seat in SD 30. Current Senator Drew Springer retired and is also supporting Brent.
Be sure to vote for Brent Hagenbuch, a Naval Academy grad who has served three tours overseas, a businessman, a Christian conservative, and a MAGA supporter for SD 30.
