After an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote, the U.S. Senate has passed a foreign aid bill that will send urgent assistance to Ukraine.

The very next day, the White House announced that urgently needed air defense systems and artillery rounds – to the tune of $1 billion – would reach Ukrainian battlefields within days, providing the Ukrainian people and President Zelensky the support they have desperately needed at this life-or-death moment.

Even beyond sending aid to Ukraine, this spending package provides an essential provision to seize the assets of Vladimir Putin’s partners in conflict and use those assets to rebuild Ukraine. So we are both supporting our democratic ally and holding the cruel enablers of Russia’s murderous invasion accountable. 

With this aid package, the United States has reminded the dictators of the world – Vladimir Putin specifically – that we will not retreat in the face of wanton aggression. So long as our allies are in crisis on the world stage, I will push to support them. Thank you for your attention to, and support of, this critical fight for democracy.
