[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont
Hi Friend,
Happy Arbor Day!
On this day, we celebrate the benefits trees provide to our society and
redouble our efforts to protect them. I’m proud to represent a state like
Vermont which cherishes our trees and forests.
Trees are essential to our state’s economy. Tourist season is driven by
the beautiful colors that attract visitors from all over the country,
generating millions of dollars in economic activity. Growers and maple
producers rely on trees to produce quality products that have become
synonymous with our state.
But more than our economy, we all benefit from the trees in our state.
Carefully protected land is used by residents and tourists alike to enjoy
the great outdoors. Whether it’s kids enjoying nature at recess or
experienced hikers climbing mountains, we know from research that both our
physical and mental health improve being in nature.
Vermont has a strong tradition of conservation, and I’m proud to carry on
that tradition as Senator. My office has worked to secure federal funding
for projects in Vermont that will protect our forests. I’ve also
introduced legislation that transitions us toward a greener economy that
will remove pollutants from our air and leave a better planet for the next
generation.
This Arbor Day, I’m proud of how far we’ve come. And I’m more energized
than ever for the work still ahead.
Thanks,
Peter
