Dear Friends,

Earlier this month I had to pleasure of welcoming Vice President Harris back to the 12th Congressional district to announce an historic $20 billion investment in clean energy and American jobs. I was also excited to welcome EPA Administrator Michael Regan, a North Carolina native and fellow A&T Aggie, back home.

This investment, made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act, will fund clean energy, new technologies, retrofitting and updating of homes and buildings for energy efficiency, and other projects to reduce emissions and build a new economy for North Carolinians and all Americans.

Thanks to these efforts and others by the Biden Administration, we are rebuilding roads, bridges, and tunnels, erecting new transit infrastructure, and we’ll have more efficient offices, homes, and schools. This means that our children will grow up healthier, we will pay less to heat our homes, we will be safer from the lessening effects of climate change, and this country can at last have hope for the future again.

Rep. Adams Hosts 7th Annual HBCU STEAM Days of Action on Capitol Hill

Leaders of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their private sector partners gained first-hand insight into federal funding opportunities to restore the schools’ infrastructures at the 7th Annual STEAM Days of Action hosted by Congresswoman Alma S. Adams and Congressman French Hill (AR-02), co-chairs of the Congressional Bipartisan HBCU Caucus. The annual, two-day program, held on April 17th and 18th, provided an important step in ensuring inclusivity and equity in higher education for American students as HBCUs, many of which are over a century old, have traditionally been underfunded compared to predominately white institutions.

Don’t Hand Off Cash to “Agents”

Real Social Security agents will never ask you to give them cash or gift cards

The Social Security Administration (SSA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is receiving alarming reports that criminals are impersonating SSA OIG agents and are requesting that their targets meet them in person to hand off cash. SSA OIG agents will never pick up money at your door or in any type of exchange. This is a SCAM!

NEVER exchange money or funds of any kind with any individual stating they are an SSA OIG agent. This new scam trend introduces an element of physical danger to scams that never existed before.

This recent method of handing cash directly to a phony agent is a dangerous twist on a known scam tactic that pressures individuals to pay in a specific way by using cash or gift cards. SSA OIG and official government agencies do NOT conduct business in this manner.

That’s where I’ll lay my hat this week, folks! Be sure to share Adams Alerts with a friend so they can receive updates first-hand.

God Bless!

Alma
