Today, on National Richter Scale Day, we recognize the essential tools that help us understand and prepare for earthquakes—a reality we live with in Washington's 8th congressional district. This day reminds us of the importance of preparedness and the continuous need for
advancements in our local disaster response strategies.
I remember the 2001 quake that shook Washington. We need to be prepared for the next big one and Congress needs to take steps to help the west coast prepare for that. In Congress I will work with my colleagues to ensure that we have the resources we need to be ready to
respond to the next big quake.
