Considering ‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson’s Criticism of Christians

By: Paul Batura

In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Reacher star Alan Ritchson is referred to as “an unfiltered, faith-driven family man who is unafraid to show his scars as a way to fulfill God’s wishes and live in service to others.”

Yet, Ritchson also doesn’t seem to have much patience for Christians who don’t measure up to his expectations — or those who question or push back on his judgment.

“Christians today have become the most vitriolic tribe,” he told the reporter. “It is so antithetical to what Jesus was calling us to be and to do.”

To be fair, it’s not clear from the story what vitriol the actor is specifically referring to, but some additional comments hint at it. Ritchson went on to say, “I’m a Christian quite simply because of what Jesus calls us to do. Love other people until death.”

The popular star is right that Jesus calls us to love one another. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you,” He urged His disciples. “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:12-13, ESV). But that’s not all Jesus called us to do. The New Testament is full of dozens of timeless and difficult charges that go well beyond just loving our fellow man.

Jewish Students Urged to Flee Columbia University Following Antisemitic Protest
By: Emily Washburn

An Orthodox rabbi associated with Columbia University urged hundreds of Jewish students to leave campus Sunday, after pro-Hamas protests left many unsure of their safety.

“[Recent events] have made it clear that Columbia University’s Public Safety and the NYPD cannot guarantee Jewish students’ safety,” Rabbi Elie Buechler reportedly messaged 300 Jewish orthodox students yesterday.

“It deeply pains me to say that I would strongly recommend you return home as soon as possible and remain home until the reality in and around campus has dramatically improved.”

Protests have plagued Ivy League campuses since last October, when the Gaza-based terror group Hamas invaded Israel, killing an estimated 1,200 civilians, kidnapping some 250 more and unleashing systematic sexual violence against hundreds of Israeli women.

The brutal attack did not prompt an outpouring of support for Israel amongst college campuses, but support for Hamas.

Many accused Israel of prompting the attack by “colonizing” or “occupying” Gaza — a notion dispelled by even the most cursory glance at Israel’s history.

Even among this tumultuous backdrop, the pro-Hamas demonstration taking place at Columbia has distinguished itself as particularly dangerous to Jewish students, drawing condemnations from the highest echelons of government.

Golfer Scottie Scheffler’s Pro-Faith, Pro-Family Press Conference: I Can’t Wait to be a Dad
By: Zachary Mettler

On Sunday, April 21, professional golfer Scottie Scheffler — the number one golfer in the world — won the RBC Heritage tournament in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina — his second tournament win in as many weeks. He bested Chris Kirk by four strokes.

The week prior, Scheffler won his second green jacket at the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 14. Scheffler finished his round at -11, besting second-place Ludvig Aberg by four strokes.

The 27-year-old turned pro in 2018. He and his wife Meredith are expecting their first child later this month.

Following his dominating performance at the Masters, Scheffler gave a powerful pro-faith, pro-family press conference. He responded to a question about his desire to win by recounting a conversation he had that morning with friends.

“I was sitting around with my buddies this morning, and I was a bit overwhelmed. Because I told them, ‘I wish that I didn’t want to win as badly as I do.’ I love winning. I hate losing, I really do.”

“My buddies told me this morning, you know, my victory was secured on the cross,” he shared, adding,

“That’s a pretty special feeling. To know that I’m secured for forever, and it doesn’t matter whether I win this tournament, or I lose this tournament. My identity is secured for forever.”

Riley Gaines, Fourth-Wave Feminism and the Battle for Women’s Sports
By: Paul Batura

In case you needed any convincing that the current imbroglio concerning women’s sports is driven by raw politics and a thirst for power, last Friday’s release of new rules pertaining to Title IX should put any doubt to rest.

Title IX, a 1972 law that banned discrimination based on sex for school programs that receive federal funding, has been targeted by radical revolutionaries determined to redefine what the word “sex” even means.

Back when the landmark directive was signed into law by President Richard Nixon, “sex” meant “male” or “female.”

But activists today are determined to expand it to mean anything and everything from “sexual orientation” to “gender identity” — all of which are highly contested concepts.

In short, they want to force the government to allow boys to compete against your daughters based on whim, delusion or confusion.

Friday’s announcement sidestepped the larger question of whether schools will be forced to accept sexually confused (i.e., so-called transgender) athletes onto their roster, but the new rules do redefine “sex” when it comes to the sexual harassment and discrimination portions of Title IX.

Under the rules, athletes will be able to claim discrimination and harassment based on their “sexual orientation/gender identity.”

In other words, they’ll be allowed to claim fake discrimination over a made-up identity.

EXCLUSIVE: The ‘Daily Citizen’ interviews Dr. Eithan Haim
By: Emily Washburn

Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) made national news last May when an anonymous whistleblower revealed the hospital was performing transgender medical interventions on minors in secret — more than a year after the institution supposedly shut the program down.

Now, the doctor who exposed TCH’s dangerous treatments faces a federal investigation for violating patient privacy laws — a crime he did not commit.

Dr. Eithan Haim entered residency at Baylor College of Medicine, he hadn’t thought much about transgender medical interventions at all.

“It seemed like such a fringe issue,” Haim tells the Daily Citizen. “I never thought it would happen outside place like California or Oregon, and definitely not at a hospital I worked at.”

He quickly found himself embroiled in the unthinkable — practicing as a surgical resident in a hospital performing secret, “gender-affirming” surgeries on minors as young as 11 years old.

Haim enlisted investigative journalist Christopher Rufo to help expose the hospital’s deception. The federal government launched an investigation within a month of the story going live — not of TCH, but of Haim himself.

His lawyer, Marcella Burke, calls the probe “an atrocious abuse of power.”

“The prosecutors could not produce any evidence that any HIPAA violation occurred, and we have asked for it many times,” she explains.
