For six months, the House Republican majority has blocked President Biden’s emergency aid package to Ukraine. With the people of Ukraine under constant attack from Russian missiles, the Trump MAGA Republicans stalled and prevented vital U.S. aid from being delivered. It gave the Russians an advantage.
I cannot imagine the fear and suffering the Ukrainian people have endured as Russia commits war crimes and indiscriminate attacks on civilians. Exhausting their ability to fight back, the people of Ukraine have been looking to America for help … and MAGA Republicans in the House intentionally delayed for months as innocent Ukrainians die.
In the fight for democracy, Ukraine is the frontline. The world must unite to defend democracy, or all democracies will be vulnerable – including ours.
Last week, House Democrats won. And our victory was a victory for Ukraine and the defense of democracy. House Democrats voted unanimously – 210 votes – to pass President Biden’s Ukraine aid package. We delivered in Ukraine’s moment of need.
But you need to know that 112 House Republicans – the majority of the majority – voted against aiding Ukraine. They voted to turn their back on Ukraine’s fight, against our defense of democracy, and appeased Putin’s criminal aggression. It is shameful.
Democrats must take back the U.S. House this November to end the chaos and sabotage the Trump MAGA Republicans are inflicting on the United States and the world.
