ACLU Supporter, Nearly two years after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, not only are we still feeling the effects in states across the country – but the attacks are getting worse. From bans on IVF, to attacks on emergency care, to threats to medication abortion, our team is working around the clock to keep up. That's why we've set a goal to raise $50,000 before the end of the month to fuel our critical work. There are countless reasons why your support of the ACLU at this moment is so crucial: From the dozens of abortion bans we've challenged in courts and state legislatures nationwide to our work to protect safe abortion medication at the Supreme Court. But for many, this fight is personal: For individuals like Cazembe, a Black trans man who made the decision to have an abortion as he was going through a deep depression after being raped in college – depression that only worsened when he found out he was pregnant. Cazembe faced numerous barriers to accessing the care he needed, from prohibitive costs to facing aggressive protestors outside the clinic.
Stories like Cazembe's demonstrate an undeniable truth: Abortion is essential, and it is lifesaving care. The ACLU is fighting to end abortion bans and unnecessary barriers to reproductive health care like theirs every day. Our nationwide network of attorneys has already sued dozens of states since Roe was overturned. We have partnered with campaigns led by state advocates and won abortion rights victories at the ballot box in states like Ohio. And we can and must keep up this momentum. When people's lives are on the line, this is personal. Thanks for being with us in this fight, The ACLU Team |
