The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is a simple one, Samuel:
"to protect human health and the environment."

Apparently, no one has shared this information with EPA chief Scott Pruitt.

Pruitt and the Trump administration announced plans to eliminate the
Clean Power Plan -- protections that President Obama put in place to
limit greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.

This is a short-sighted, dangerous giveaway to the fossil fuel industry.
If you're sick and tired of this behavior from this administration, this is the
time to step up.

The head of the EPA is tasked with keeping our public lands, water, and air
clean and safe. But Pruitt has little interest in doing that job:

--Pruitt was arguably the loudest advocate for leaving the Paris Climate Accord.

--He willfully ignored his agency's own experts and the American Academy of
Pediatrics to approve the usage of a pesticide that can cause neurological
damage in children.

--In June, Pruitt announced plans to rescind the Clean Water Rule, which keeps
streams and rivers that provide drinking water for one-third of Americans safe
from dangerous pollutants.

--When he was Oklahoma's attorney general, he made his name suing the EPA to
fight regulations on polluters. And he's spent his tenure at the agency holding
secret meetings with fossil fuel executives and lobbyists.

This week's news is the latest example of Pruitt doing what's best for the fossil fuel industry
at the expense of public health and safety -- the exact opposite of his agency's mission.
