May 4, 2024 is Election Day in Brownsville, TX and early voting is already underway! Between now and then, one of the most important things we can do to put these candidates over the finish line is to help them contact as many voters as possible to ensure they have all the information they need to cast their ballots.

That’s why we’re joining forces with Lead Locally and the Port For All campaign for a virtual phone bank on Monday, April 29 at 4:30 PT/6:30 CT. This will be a great opportunity to hear from our founder, Jane Fonda, and the candidates we’re supporting in this crucial race.

We’ll kick things off with a quick word from Jane and our endorsed candidates, followed by a brief training before we hop on the phones. So, whether you’re a seasoned phone banker or a first-timer, this is a great opportunity to support some amazing candidates. In case you’re not familiar with this race yet, here’s a quick recap:

The Port Commission (formally known as the Brownsville Navigation District Commission) makes decisions that directly affect the livelihoods of thousands of South Texans. They get to decide between policies that cater to the biggest corporate polluters and policies that prioritize a liveable future for all of our communities by promoting sustainable and equitable development.

That’s why we’re supporting the three candidates who comprise the Port For All slate:

• Josette Cruz Hinojosa, focused on community needs and improving workers' conditions at the Port.
• Patrick Everitt, committed to bringing healthier jobs and a cleaner environment to Brownsville.
• Andres Rios, who brings invaluable experience, driven by a personal commitment to his family and community.
