While our nation fights the faceless enemy of COVID-19, with hundreds of thousands of lives on the line, President Trump is fighting those in government who do their jobs with competence and integrity.

Late on Friday, Trump fired the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, whose only mistake was doing his job by the book. The IG merely forwarded to Congress — as he was required to do — the credible whistleblower complaint that wound up leading to Trump's impeachment.

If he wants to attack Congressional Democrats, that's fine. But the non-political career civil servants who protect our nation deserve better.
