A lot of people responded to our email Tuesday about the problems once again facing the students in the Anoka-Hennepin School district. Thank you for stepping up!

 

Racism, homophobia, and many other forms of intolerance once ran rampant through the schools up there, but have been, at least partially, reigned in through consent decrees with the departments of Education and Justice.

 

This isn't a problem isolated to that district though unfortunately.

 

I've been to a lot of school board meetings and rallies this week, including in the Osseo school district where students there are facing the similar issues. There a vocal minority wants to tear down the districts gender inclusion policies.

 

 

We can't stress this enough. Students deserve the freedom to learn – and that includes the freedom from bullying and harassment.
