Political scientists at the Cook Political Report rate districts across the country and score them based on their partisan leaning, called a partisan index. Some districts are “blue” districts and others are solidly “red,” meaning that in cycle after cycle voters are more or less guaranteed to turn out in favor of the Republican or Democrat. This gives respective parties a number of districts they can rely on to go their way each year.

Illinois’ 13th District, however, is one of the districts with the closest partisan indexes in this area of the country. Don’t believe us? See for yourself:

Nikki works so hard to reach across the aisle with good-faith, bipartisan policies in order to deliver progress for residents across Central and Southern Illinois.

But with a margin this close, we can make a good assumption that national, right-wing groups will FLOOD this district with cash in order to unseat Nikki and flip this district red.

Right now, Democrats are just a few seats away from a congressional majority that puts working families first, but we need to hold every single seat we already have in order to get there, including Nikki’s here in Illinois.
