Friends,
This week, I proudly voted in favor of the national security supplemental to support Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan and counter aggression from Putin's Russia, Communist China, and the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism, Iran.
I won't make any apologies for supporting Ukraine. History has shown us that refusing to stand up to totalitarian states that invade and plunder their democratic neighbors only leads to more destruction and danger to the free world. We already live in an increasingly dangerous world. Cutting off our support to Ukraine would not only help Putin but also be a green light for China to invade Taiwan, which could very well draw the U.S. into war.
During the lead-up to the passage of the national security supplemental, some talking heads and elected officials in my own party resorted to spreading misinformation about Ukraine and Russia, with some even unwittingly parroting the Kremlin's talking points. I recommend that these members of Congress start attending their classified briefings and reading a few history books on how President Ronald Reagan successfully stood up to the Soviet Union. While Congress isn't exactly known for getting things right, this is one big instance where it did. Speaker Johnson showed great leadership and a broad bipartisan coalition came together. That's good news for America. And very bad news for our enemies and adversaries.
Sincerely,
|
