** SF Democratic Party Is Officially Pro Housing
------------------------------------------------------------
Hi John,

Last Friday, I had the honor of being officially sworn in as an elected Delegate to the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC).

And one of our first items of business: declaring the San Francisco Democratic Party officially to be Pro Housing!
This is a BIG deal.

Introducing this resolution constituted the first time the San Francisco Democratic Party has acknowledged we must build housing at all levels, reduce bureaucracy, and protect renters.

These goals are not mutually exclusive and this resolution presents a path forward to comprehensive housing reform - it's an honor to cosponsor this resolution acknowledging it as such.

** Bridging Communities at Eid & Cherry Blossom Festival
------------------------------------------------------------
This weekend I had the absolute pleasure of participating in two community events in District 5.

The first was a celebration of Eid al-Fitr in the Tenderloin. A fun-filled celebration to commemorate the end of fasting in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan was a personal highlight for me. We volunteered with the Tenderloin Recreation Center to set up the event, which hosted hundreds of families and their children with crafts, games, and food!

The second was marching in the Cherry Blossom Parade! This was the 57th festival in Japantown, marking the celebration of spring and support for our local small businesses. I joined the Japanese-American Religious Federation and We Are One - organizations focused on bridge building and cross-cultural outreach - and it was a delight to walk alongside leaders in the community on such a perfectly sunny day.

These events are a wonderful representation of the richness in culture, religious diversity, and inclusivity hosted in our District 5 neighborhoods. I'm incredibly proud to live in an area with such vibrancy and look forward to joining future community events with you all.

Sincerely,
Bilal Mahmood
