MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA – Iowa Lt. Governor Adam Gregg was recognized today as the 2024 winner of the “Government Innovators Award,” presented by the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) in partnership with Sourcewell. The award is presented annually to a lieutenant governor or second-in-command in state government who has demonstrated a commitment to best use taxpayer dollars, improve efficiencies, and bring innovations to state and territorial government.

“I am honored to receive this award, and I think it shows the innovative work that’s being done through the Governor’s Empower Rural Iowa Initiative in ensuring that there is opportunity and prosperity in every corner of our state,” said Lt. Governor Gregg.  “In meeting with lieutenant governors from across the nation, I hope that Iowa can serve as a model for policy throughout the country." "

As Co-Chair of the Empower Rural Iowa Initiative, Lt. Governor Gregg is leading his state in fostering opportunities for growth in rural communities - addressing housing shortages, attracting and retaining residents and workers, growing connectivity, and Lt. Governor Gregg has also led the charge is an innovative program to address emergency services shortages in rural communities - "Iowa United First Aid."   This pilot program aims to provide immediate medical intervention in that critical window between an emergency call and when traditional medical assistance arrives, using GPS-technology and volunteers - a program that can truly be a model for communities across the country.

In presenting the award, Sourcewell said, “Sourcewell is honored to have the opportunity to present the NLGA Government Innovators award, an honor that recognizes our lieutenant governors and seconds-in-command that effectively develop, oversee, and execute initiatives to increase governmental efficiencies, bring innovations, ensure the best use of taxpayer dollars, and improve the delivery of government. Lt. Governor Gregg’s dedication to service embodies both Sourcewell’s mission of service and this award, and we congratulate him and thank him for his dedication to the state of Iowa and to NLGA.”

The award was presented to Lt. Governor Gregg on April 25, 2024, at the Spring Meeting of the NLGA in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
