Nine million. That's the number of children across the country
who depend on CHIP -- the Children's Health Insurance Program -- to
receive health coverage.

It's an enormously popular program -- but its funding expired on
September 30. Republicans in Congress thought it was more important
to focus on giving tax breaks to corporations and the 1% than ensuring
millions of children can continue to have health care.

Here's the worst part: If Republicans refuse to fund the program, nearly
two million kids could lose health insurance in January.

When kids aren't covered by health insurance, parents are often forced
to delay or even skip the medical care their children need. For children
with serious illnesses or chronic conditions, there can be grave
consequences for neglecting care.

Since it was passed 20 years ago, CHIP has had bipartisan support. But
we don't have to tell you that today's GOP is forever stooping to a new low.
