We need to do more.

We are going to get through the coronavirus outbreak together. If you are experiencing symptoms or are looking for more information, you can visit the website of the CDC or the Illinois Department of Health. We are closely monitoring the situation and its effects on the people of Illinois and our nation as we work together to keep our families and communities safe.

John,

We are in an emergency — a crisis made much worse by President Trump.

Millions of Americans lost their jobs in the past few weeks, and now too many of our neighbors are struggling to put food on the table. We don’t know when we will reach the other side, but we do know that we must do more to protect workers and families — now.

I introduced a bill in Congress to forbid evictions and foreclosures during the crisis. A more modest version — that freezes evictions and foreclosures for 60% of Americans — was included in the national coronavirus relief package. But it is not enough. What about the other 40%? We must help every person keep a roof over their head.

Emergencies always hurt Latinos and Latinas, African Americans, Native Americans, and immigrants the most. In my community, everyone is worried about paying their rent or paying for health care when they can’t work. Without work, they are worried about losing their homes and putting food on the table. Now, more than ever, we need to have each others’ backs.

Join us — sign on to demand the Trump Administration freeze rents and mortgages, NOW >>>

¡Si se Puede!
