Administrative Action Could Provide Work Permits for Long-Time Immigrant Spouses of U.S. Citizens - The Wall Street Journal reports that the Biden Administration is currently considering administrative action to create a method for long-time unauthorized migrants who are married to U.S. citizens to obtain work permits. Many of these migrants have U.S. citizen children and have been in the country for decades. For over 1.1 million of these migrants who currently have no viable pathway to earn legal status, this would allow them to come out of the shadows and work legally for employers who deduct and match payroll taxes.  This ID and Tax strategy would help to alleviate inflationary workforce shortages at a time when the U.S. economy has 8.8 Million job openings and an unemployment rate near record lows.

Countering Iranian Aggression - Recently Iran attacked Israel on Israeli soil for the first time ever. Thankfully, Israel shot down 99 percent of these rockets and drones, in collaboration with the U.S., UK, Jordan, and other partners and allies. This attack was a major escalation of tensions in the region and proves Iran is becoming more and more aggressive. Representative Michael McCaul discusses two House Foreign Affairs Committee bills that would counter the Iranian regime and its proxies and give Congress a say in any effort to extend financial relief.

Supreme Court Considers Whether EMTALA Conflicts with Idaho's Law Allowing Abortions to Save a Mother's Life - The United States Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Moyle v. United States (consolidated with Idaho v. United States) to determine if the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) conflicts with Idaho's state law that allows abortions in cases when the pregnancy risks the mother's life. Texas Alliance for Life's Communications Director Amy O'Donnell had this to say about the federal challenge to state pro-life laws: "The pro-abortion Biden/Harris Administration's misinterpretation of EMTALA threatens to transform hospitals into abortion facilities. The Administration asserts that any pregnancy could necessitate abortion at a single physician's discretion, another attempt to trample on state abortion laws intended to protect unborn babies from elective abortions."
