I'm fighting in Albany, will you have my back?

Friends,

Voting against this year's budget was an easy choice. It is not a progressive budget. There are no new taxes on wealthy New Yorkers to fund schools and hospitals.

In fact, it cut hundreds of millions from Medicare, including funding for Elmhurst, our community hospital ... when it's the epicenter of a global pandemic. It makes me angry just writing this.

Even if all that weren't true - I gave you my word that I wouldn't roll back bail reform. But that's exactly what this budget does. It puts more people in jail at a time when we live in the safest big city in America.

I'll always vote my conscience, but that doesn't endear me to the big money machine in Albany. My real estate broker opponent will try to use it to her advantage.

I know times are tough. If you can't give I certainly understand, but if you can spare even a few dollars it will send a strong signal that New Yorkers want real progressive budgets.

Thanks,

Jessica
