John – Some members of the Senate are lining up to *entirely* block a tax package that would help 16 million children in lower-income families!

Right now, the Child Tax Credit provides higher benefits to families earning $400,000 per year than to families earning $15,000. It’s like being punished for being poor!

The Senate is considering a bill to change this, and we need Congress to act by the end of April to make it easier for people to receive a higher Child Tax Credit as soon as possible.

These changes passed the House of Representatives in a rare, broad, bipartisan vote, and we’re joining a movement-wide call on Senators to follow the lead of their House colleagues to pass this bipartisan tax package now.

Domestic workers are so often the primary income earners in their families with an average wage of just $13 or $14 an hour. But, that can be too *low* to qualify for the child tax credit.

Expanding the Child Tax Credit is popular and is proven to dramatically reduce child poverty levels . Analysis shows that the expanded Child Tax Credit included in the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act would lift 400,000 children out of poverty in tax year 2023, rising to 500,000 above the poverty line in 2025!

It’s a no-brainer. But cynical Senators are playing politics with the lives of millions of families with young children, and we need to make it clear that low-income families are not political pawns!

John, can you add your name to the movement-wide call on Senators to pass this bipartisan tax package now? -->[[link removed]]

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
