Our democracy and voting rights are at exceptional risk across the country
right now, with Donald Trump and his supporters continuing to push the Big
Lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, and Republican
lawmakers trying to make it harder for people to make their voices heard
at the ballot box.

One of their common tactics? Voter ID laws.

Voter ID laws are an unnecessary obstacle to voting that have long been
used by GOP-controlled state and local governments as a means to
disenfranchise voters. They historically create a disproportionate burden
for lower-income voters, voters of color, young and elderly voters, and
people with disabilities.

Here in California, the city of Huntington Beach’s new charter amendment
authorizes additional voter ID for municipal elections starting in 2026,
but this directly violates state law. Our state already has robust
requirements during voter registration to prevent voter fraud, which is
rare: every voter must present identification and swear under penalty of
perjury when they register.

As Attorney General, Rob recently filed a lawsuit against this illegal and
misguided voter ID measure to prevent it from going into effect and
disenfranchising voters.

as he’s in office. Can you show him your support by pitching in a
grassroots donation of $5 or more before our campaign’s
April 30th fundraising deadline?

Voter ID measures like this will only move us backward and create
unnecessary barriers to voting, but Rob is doing everything in his power
to stop them from affecting any Californians.

Thanks for having Rob’s back,
