Dear John,
In honor of Voter ID Month of Action, we're shining a spotlight on the many ways people can get involved with VoteRiders to help people stay informed about ID they need to vote, and secure an ID if they don't have one already.
Lori Arbuckle has been volunteering with VoteRiders in Virginia for two years. She helps people get free IDs and any underlying documents they need to get those IDs, in addition to coordinating transportation and ensuring VoteRiders covers any costs.
Lori likes being a VoteRiders volunteer because she feels like she's doing something to make the world a little better.
"Having an ID makes you more whole in society," she says. "If you don’t have one, you aren’t really a full-fledged member because everything requires an ID these days. Some people have said to me after getting their new ID, 'I’m a real person now' or 'Now I exist because I have my ID.'"

More than 10,000 VoteRiders volunteers write letters to voters, text voters, volunteer at in-person voter ID events and help sessions, answer questions on our Helpline or Chatbot, or help voters one-on-one to track down documents and make appointments.
Every single one is directly helping voters to get the information and help they need to cast a ballot with confidence. With so much at stake on November 5, we appreciate all the VoteRiders volunteers who are making a difference!
If you’re interested in learning more about volunteering to help voters one-on-one to secure their ID, our next Voter ID Assistance Orientation is May 28.

"If you like to problem solve, helping someone get an ID is a really interesting thing to do," says Lori. "It can be extremely rewarding too."
Sincerely,
Erin Carden
