# [#]As we celebrate Earth Week and recognize the critical importance of protecting and preserving our environment, there’s still much that has to be done to tackle the impact of climate change.

Across Washington, we’re seeing the direct results of playing ‘catch-up’ on environmental policies and responsible land management.

It is the diversity of our land that sustains our economy and provides recreational opportunities. But I believe we must do more to understand and work with constituencies that are too often ignored.

Washington’s Tribal Nations have been faithful stewards of this land for generations, and for that reason, and many others, it’s critical that our voices play a role in environmental policy-making.

It’s crucial that Native Communities and Tribes have a voice in environmental policy-making. If you agree, will you add your name to my petition (we are looking for 4,500 signers in the next 24 hours): [[link removed]]SIGN ON [[link removed]]

Every community in Washington is engaged in the fight against climate change. We are lucky to live in a state that is so focused on climate action; however, not all communities are affected by climate change to the same degree.

Native communities rely on the land that we live on. It is a sacred part of what connects us to each other and to our history.
