As Governor, one of my top priorities has been supporting North Carolina’s public school students and teachers.

Our family knows the value of a public school education firsthand. I am a product of NC public schools, and my three children went to public school here, too. My mom was a North Carolina public school teacher.

I’ve also visited schools across the state, and I’ve seen just how dedicated our teachers are to making sure students receive the excellent education they deserve. But far right lawmakers are attempting to choke the life out of our public schools and accuse them of failing while they gasp for breath. Instead, they are robbing taxpayer money from public schools and giving it to vouchers for unaccountable private schools.

GOP candidate Michele Morrow would only further Republican’s goals of defunding public education in North Carolina.

Morrow is a threat to our schools’ funding, and she is also completely unqualified for the position she seeks. She is a conspiracy theorist who has advocated for violence against Democratic politicians and lacks any kind of background in public education.

Democratic Superintendent nominee Mo Green has a long record of service to NC public schools and is committed to investing in teachers and students. I know he is ready for the job and will take every opportunity to strengthen public education across the state.
