John,
Duke Energy wants to build an expensive and dirty methane gas plant in Roxboro. Not only is methane 80 times more harmful than CO2 for 20 years after it is released, but this plant could drive up consumer costs. This plant would require pipelines to provide fuel, driving costs up that Duke could pass onto ratepayers like you.
However, these plans are currently awaiting approval by the North Carolina Utilities Commission, and there’s still time to make your voice heard. Join us in urging the NCUC to oppose dirty gas in Roxboro.

Duke claims that the conversion to methane is needed to meet rising electricity demand from data centers and new businesses locating in our state. However, methane is expensive and still emits carbon dioxide, while solar, wind, and storage are cheaper and and provide healthier options to power our communities.
Our Commission needs to know North Carolina can grow its economy cleanly, using affordable renewable resources. Doing so can help North Carolina progress toward our climate goals and keep lower utility rates.
Thank you for your continued support of NCLCV and North Carolina’s environment.
