Note From the Chair
[[link removed]] Friend,
I’ll keep it brief this week because I want to spend today showing you what we’ve done. I’ve been on the road from one corner of the state to the other, talking with Democrats like you at IDP’s many regional events we’ve hosted this month. At these events, we’ve worked to get a community of folks together to be ready to hit the ground running and elect Democrats up and down the ballot this fall. We’ve also celebrated the all-star Democrats who have been an integral part of IDP’s work for years – some, decades.
I want to see you next, friend. If you’re not sure how to find out what that event is, I encourage you to head to iowademocrats.org, click the ‘calendar’ button, and see our new event calendar. Will I see you at the next one, friend?
Earlier this month I met FTC Chair Lena Khan to hear her speak on how the Biden Administration is supporting labor rights, combatting monopolization, and more. Chair Khan was here specifically to discuss the acquisition of Iowa Fertilizer Company by Koch Industries, and the room was packed with farmers who spoke out in force against the acquisition. Here are several photos from the many county conventions held this month. Almost every single county party held its county convention this month. These are an integral part of how IDP’s county chapters get organized and ready to hit the ground running. [[link removed]]
County party events like this are the backbone of the work Iowa Democrats do, and the people who show up and get organized to win elections up and down the ballot are the lifeblood of strong Democratic campaigns.
And then there’s Clarinda, where so many Democrats came out to get started on building the Democratic infrastructure they’ll need to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this Fall. [[link removed]]
And here’s a photo from one of IDP’s regional events in LeClaire. [[link removed]]
IDP is working hard to engage Democrats in every corner of Iowa and recognize the all-stars who work tirelessly to further the Democratic mission.
Organizing doesn’t stop in the off-year, and these awardees have proven that time and time again.
Recognizing key volunteers and supporters like this is integral to ensuring that we nurture and retain those who are leading within our party.
These photos are examples of just a few of the many events we’ve held in April alone. I can’t wait to see you at the next one, friend.
Sincerely,
Rita Hart
Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party
