Race + Power Weekly

In today’s Race + Power newsletter, we examine the adversity faced by women of color at all levels of the workforce. First, across the South, Black women are reclaiming spaces that previously excluded them or rendered them invisible. Next, Black women are systematically suppressed within the labor economy, but those who manage to overcome are rewarded for their efforts with an impossible dilemma. Then, to enable women of color entrepreneurs to thrive, focus less on building skills and more on helping women forge supportive and strategic business relationships. Finally, a new study shows that Black boys are less likely to be unnecessarily placed in special education when they are taught by Black teachers.
