Month after month, over the last several years, we've witnessed one bloodbath after another in newsrooms across the country.
Here at Common Dreams, we're facing many of the same economic pressures that have forced so many other digital news outlets to cut back or shut down, including rising costs and Big Tech suppression of stories that challenge corporate power.
In fact, there's just one reason why we have yet to go the way of so many others: the grassroots support of readers like you.
Other news outlets rely on corporate advertising, which is part of the reason so many are failing. The advertising money they used to rely on is increasingly going to companies like Meta and Google.
We don't take a dime of corporate advertising — we never have and never will. This has allowed us to be independent, honest, and committed to values like peace, justice, and ecological sustainability. It has also allowed us to build a readership that trusts and supports us through good times and bad.
