Dear Friend,

As a supporter of Ohio Citizen Action interested in combating utility corruption, you understand the importance of holding those in power accountable.

The recent developments surrounding Governor Mike DeWine's connections to FirstEnergy and the tragic death of Sam Randazzo shed light on the depth of the corruption we are facing <[link removed]>.

Randazzo's passing has wrenched state and federal criminal cases accusing him of accepting a $4.3 million bribe from FirstEnergy before doing its bidding, but doesn't stop the state's case against FirstEnergy executives.

The extent of FirstEnergy's influence is staggering:

- FirstEnergy gave a secret $1 million contribution to a dark money group backing Jon Husted <[link removed]> in his 2018 bid for governor

- FirstEnergy secretly paid $300,000 to a dark money nonprofit referred to as its lobbyist explicitly associated with now-Senate President Matt Huffman <[link removed]>, referred to as “the Huffman C4."

- First Energy gave $2.5 million to a dark money PAC to support Mike DeWine <[link removed]>’s run for Governor; and  FirstEnergy CEO Chuck Jones hosted a fundraiser for DeWine at his home

- FirstEnergy is paying for the legal fees of its indicted and fired ex-lobbyist Michael Dowling <[link removed]>, and is using ratepayer money to do it.

Ohioans deserve energy policy free of corruption and lies

We deserve a comprehensive energy policy built around equitable solutions that are good for our economy, our communities, and our health.

The costly coal subsidies and provisions gutting our clean energy standards implemented by House Bill 6 remain in effect today, costing ratepayers millions every day and dragging down our economic growth.

We continue to call on lawmakers to repeal ALL of HB 6, get rid of ratepayer-funded subsidies of antiquated coal facilities and reinstate Ohio's renewable energy and energy efficiency standards in full.

Currently, legislation <[link removed]> has been introduced that would add transparency to political spending by utilities.

We're working with other groups across the state to pass a community solar bill <[link removed]> that will allow ratepayers to break free from monopoly utilities while helping to solve climate change.

Thank you for sticking with us in the fight for accountability and justice,

P.S. We're so close achieving our $30,000 Spring campaign goal. Only $3,413 away! Your support, if you haven't contributed already, could make all the difference. Donate today! <[link removed]>
