I want to be completely honest about one thing: it was your activism that compelled the Pennsylvania House to pass the bipartisan House Bill 7771 (aka the Ghost Gun Bill) last month.
Your relentless advocacy convinced our representatives, including three Republicans, to support this bill which simply requires ghost gun kits to be serialized by manufacturers, and purchasers to pass a background check. In short, it calls on ghost guns to be treated as real guns, because they are real guns.
Last month, a town in Bucks County witnessed just how deadly and widely accessible these weapons are.3 A man in Falls Township used a ghost gun to murder his stepmother, sister, and the mother of his children and then fled to New Jersey in a stolen vehicle, triggering an interstate manhunt. The Township was under lockdown for an entire weekend, canceling their St. Patrick’s Day parade.
No community in Pennsylvania should have to shut down because an untraceable gun fell into the wrong hands. This bipartisan bill is supported by law enforcement4 and would close a loophole that allows deadly weapons to flow freely into the hands of criminals.
