Friend,
As a mom with kids at home helping them learn remotely, a local restaurant owner struggling to keep our small business afloat and a state lawmaker working each day to help connect constituents with critical life-line services and drive state policies to support our medical, economic and education response to COVID-19, it may sound funny, but I've never been more grateful for the family, friends and supporters like you.
When I wake every morning, I know that none of the challenges I'm facing come anywhere near the serious health care and economic challenges facing so many in our community.
Each day, I am humbled and inspired by the medical professionals in Bend fighting on the front lines of this battle. I am grateful for the first responders, grocery workers, teachers, truck drivers and business people all doing their part to keep life going as normal as possible.
As your state legislator, my focus is to make sure people in Bend get whatever medical attention they need. That those that have lost jobs have access to unemployment benefits and the security to remain in their homes. That small business people have access to federal and state relief funds to keep them afloat. And that our students continue to receive the best education possible under these unprecedented circumstances.
Frankly, the last thing that's been on my mind is my re-election campaign that, until just a few weeks ago, was moving forward full speed ahead. Today, I've made the difficult decision to resume campaign activities that have been on hold since early March. Voting begins in four weeks, and while it’s hard to do, I must ask you to consider a donation to my campaign of whatever you can afford right now.
CAMPAIGN REOPENING FUND |
I now have an opponent, and, despite this crisis, the target on my back for defeat has never been bigger.
Rest assured, the government unions, trial lawyers and other big government, anti-business forces backing my opponent aren't stopping their fundraising and their campaign organizing. So we can’t afford to rest either.

I am very proud of my moderate approach and independent voting record for the people of Bend. But the Salem special interests backing my opponent just want a reliable vote for higher taxes and excessive regulation. They want a vote they can count on - one that will accept the status quo, never ask uncomfortable questions, and one that will vote blindly for their agenda.
That's not me. And, that’s not Bend.
So, as hard as it is for me to do this right now -- I’m asking for your help.
I am the #1 target for defeat by the Salem big government, anti-business special interests who care only about partisan politics and not about Bend and our future. I need your help to keep me in the race. Anything helps.
