I can’t believe I’m writing this, but did you know there are Democratic candidates for Congress who actually accept MAGA-backed money?
It’s absolutely unconscionable, but unfortunately, this is a very real and present issue all over the country.
It’s a fact that hits close to home for me because this is happening in Oregon’s 3rd Congressional district, where my best friend for life, my sister, Susheela Jayapal is running a proud, bold progressive campaign – and other Democrats are stooping to new lows against her.
Dark money super PACs have already spent more than $1 MILLION to buy the election for one of Susheela’s opponents. At the same time, Susheela has declared that she will NEVER accept a dime of corporate PAC or MAGA-backed money.
That’s a huge difference from other candidates who don’t seem to mind if the same Republican megadonors fueling anti-choice politicians, election deniers, and insurrectionists all across the country weigh into this Democratic primary.
Democratic Primaries should be fueled by a passion for progressive values and a desire to serve the community. MAGA funds should never have the ability or the opportunity to come into play.
