This is some big news in our fight for guaranteed health care for all!

NNU - Medicare for All!

We don’t reach out to you often about our campaign in California, but we have some big news to share in our fight for guaranteed health care for all:

Our CalCare bill (California Assembly Bill 2200) — which would establish guaranteed health care for all in California through a Medicare for All-type, single-payer system — passed its first hearing and vote in the State Assembly Health Committee yesterday!

CalCare made it over this first legislative hurdle with the support of over 200 organizations, including unions representing over 1 million workers and the California Labor Federation, which represents 2.3 million workers in the state.

This was made possible by nurses, supporters, and volunteers spreading the word and helping to build public pressure for health care justice in communities across California.

Now, CalCare will continue to move through the legislature to its next step: it must pass the State Assembly Appropriations Committee by May 17th to advance.
