John,

These days, I’ve been spending most of my time on the campaign trail. It’s one of my favorite parts of campaigning… yes, even when I’m stuck without cell reception and running low on gas. Talk about cell phone bars - too often, I’m the only “Barr” in the car. Ha!

Let me explain.

We are Michigan’s biggest Congressional district geographically, but we’re also pretty sparse. When it comes to basic utilities, rural communities like ours typically bear the brunt of a lack of infrastructure development.

It’s an issue that’s been present in my life for as long as I can remember, and it’s really noticeable when you’re traveling from one end of our district to the other. I’ve had to make accommodations with my team to ensure we’re communicating to the best of our ability, and sometimes that just means I’m optimistically yelling, “Can you hear me now?”

Upper and Northern Michiganders need investments in rural broadband, plain and simple. A congressman like Bergman, who votes against that funding, shouldn’t be in office. I’m running for Congress to give us a seat at the table and ensure we break down digital equity barriers. Can I count on your support with a contribution to my campaign right now?
